Golden Goose Review and Dupes

It’s true that I’ve been tiptoeing around in my Golden Goose sneakers for the past 6 months because I know they’re ridiculous. They are one of those things you hate yourself for loving. Some people have savings accounts, I have sneakers at ridiculous prices.

(I’m kidding, of course. Plus, I’ll cash in on my Beanie Babies collection someday.)

First of all, IhatedGolden Goose sneakers when they first appeaRed on the scene. I mean HATED. Why would I want dirty slippers? Was it jealousy or real dislike? I don’t know, but it turned out that he really wanted some. I watched them for a full year or two before I decided I wanted to give them a try. It’s been 6 months and I can’t tell you how much I love my Golden Goose sneakers. 1) because that sentence sounds like the line in“10 things I hate about you”when you say“I like my Sketchers but I love my Prada backpack.” (Inane — is that the word I’m looking for?) and 2) because I’m aware of what I’m doing as an influencer. I can’t get over the fact that these are the $500 sneakers I’m talking about and while I’m not one to shy away from buying a designer, as well thought out and intentional as that is, I never want someone to feel pressuRed to buy them because from me or any influencer. It turns out that I really like them and use what I like here, no matter the price. If something costs $20 and I feature it here, that means I like it and I think you do too. Price is not the only thing that gives value to something in my book.

So I say all of this with this disclaimer: If you’re interested in Golden Goose sneakers and want to know if they’re worth the money, here’s my review below. If you get giddy just looking at their dirty leather and the price, keep scrolling to the bottom because I’ve rounded up a LOT of similar options for you!

So… are they worth it?

This is the number one question I get about Golden Goose. That and what socks you wear with them. It’s hard for me to quantify value to someone other than myself, since “value” is so subjective. So I’ll break it down into a few categories and let you decide: comfort, style, ease of use.

As for size, they are everywhere. After reading the reviews, I decided to stick with my typical size. I got the size 10 listed on the Nordstroms site and when I first put these on I felt they were too tight. But my greedy butt didn’t want to return them, so I started using them around the house before taking them to the non-returnable streets. When I broke them they stretched out a bit and now they are perfect. I would say if you are between sizes go up a half size, but this is debatable as some people suggest going down a half size. But for me I need like a quarter inch more but not a full size up to an 11 so I stuck with a 10. (I will say that in EU shoes or designer shoes I’m normally a 41 which is advertised as a 11. Weird) flexible but that’s ok Kendi.) The back heel is looser which is the saving grace and ultimately made me decide to stick with the 10. They have stretched with use and are now perfectly comfortable.

I can wear them all day, no problem, but I’m not a traveler or someone who is on my feet all day, so I can’t speak to that. I probably wouldn’t wear them all day at, say, Disney World, but I find them nice to wear all day. Comfort: 8/10

For me, I have found that my personal style is becoming much more casual than before. I love this because it also lends itself to more comfortable pieces, including sneakers. Now I wear sneakers probably 50% of the time, so having sneakers that can go with everything is key. This style of sneakers is very much in fashion right now and vice versa, most of the fashion clothes can go with these sneakers. But do you know why I like them so much? They go with everything.(All of these photos are from outfits from the last month. That’s how much I love them.) They are the perfect low profile sneaker. (Veja Esplar is a great finisher!) When I say ‘low profile’ I mean they hit below my ankle leaving my entire ankle exposed and the shoe itself is a slimmer cut. It’s not a chunky shoe, so it’s a flattering look with everything from dresses to Jeans to Shorts.

I think they are a fashion shoe for sure. But I think this trend will last for many years because you can’t go wrong with White sneakers.

Style: 10/10

Probably what I like the most is that I can put them on and go. (That’s why they show up so much in my tests!) I don’t even tie my Golden Goose sneakers, I leave the laces untied (they’re Short for that purpose and I tie one side so they won’t slip) and wear them as slip-ons. Personally, I don’t wear socks with my Golden Goose sneakers. I don’t have a problem with blisters or chafing, but if that’s not your problem, these socks will work with your Golden Goose or any low-profile sneaker! The ease of style and fit make this hands down my favorite pair of shoes right now.

Usability test? 100%. 10/10

In general, yes, I would buy them again and again. That’s right, I’d trade in my best Beanie Babies for another pair, even if it means adding another year of employment to my retirement plan. I find Nordstrom has the best selection, but I’m probably biased because I shop there a lot.

But they’re not for everyone and say it with me now: THIS IS OKAY! However, a low-TOP sneaker is a must for spring and Summer because sneakers and dresses are the best. So I’ve rounded up some look-alikes, as well as some simpler versions of low-profile sneakers or for SEO purposes: Golden Goose duplicates.
